Appendix B: Glossary

The most important terms of the till screen with their English and German labels. The labels come straight from the till (version 2026.10.12). Some windows are labelled in English only; those terms are the same in both columns.

Catalog Management	Katalogverwaltung	Menu area for the menu card and items.
Catalogs	Kataloge	The menu card of a venue.

Change to Give	Wechselgeld	Amount the guest gets back when paying cash.

Storno	Storno	Storno right (Allow storno): needed for returns of paid receipts (see Return) and for reversing tip payouts. An order that has not been paid yet is cancelled with Cancel – no storno right is needed for this.
System Info	Systeminfo	Window with version and device data for support (click "Vectis v…").
Tables	Tische	Opens the floor plan.
Tax Groups	Steuergruppen	VAT rates for items.
Terminals	Terminals	Profiles for self-checkout kiosks; till staff do not need a terminal profile.

Frequently asked questions

Q: Why is a term in the menu different from the manual? The manual uses the till's labels. If they differ, the till has been updated; the label on your screen is what counts.

Q: What is the difference between the X report and the Z closing? The X report shows interim figures and changes nothing. The Z closing ends the business day fiscally.

Q: What is the difference between storno and return? The Cancel button cancels an order that has not been paid yet; no storno right is needed for this. A paid order is not cancelled but returned – in full or in part, with a new, signed receipt. The return needs the storno right (Allow storno).

Q: Why are some windows in English although the till is set to German? Some windows (for example "Create New User" in User Management, or the venue and reservation windows) are labelled in English only.

Q: What does "Global" mean in the user list? The user (an administrator) belongs to no specific venue and applies to all.
